The Haulage & Logistics Buyers Magazine
FOREWORD
by Barbara Ryan, Publishing
Director, Truck and Track
In putting together the articles
and news items for this issue
of Truck and Track magazine,
I was struck – not for the first
time – by the many examples
of achievement in the UK’s thriving logistics
industry. Whether it’s at the gritty end of physically
moving loads, in the challenging health and safety
environment or the fast-moving telematics sector,
I see overriding optimism and a determination to
succeed.
Whatever lies ahead on the political stage, I know
that the traditional British qualities of hard work,
perseverance, creativity and entrepreneurship will
help to ensure prosperity for workers, companies and,
ultimately, the nation.
Maybe this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show perfectly
sums up what I’m saying. Based on unprecedented
demand for space at the Show, the organisers
confidently predict that it will be a sell-out event
and anticipate more than 450 exhibitors and 21,000
visitors – a solid increase on last year’s event.
In our ten page preview of the CV Show, we have
highlighted some of the stellar exhibitors including
Mandata, TruTac, Total, Rotronics, Lytx, Descartes,
Merridale and Continental – to name just a few!
During your visit to the Show, I would urge you to
not only take a good look at what’s on offer but also
speak to the many knowledgeable exhibitors. Allow
them to explain how your business could benefit
from adopting more efficient and cost effective
working practices. Personally, I’malways blown away
by the seemingly endless stream of time and money
saving solutions that utilise new products and latest
technology to potentially transform businesses of all
sizes.
Elsewhere in this issue, we look forward to the Talent
in Logistics event taking place in Milton Keynes on
June 27th. Going from strength to strength, the
event is now in its third year and features conference
sessions, interactive exhibits, live competitions
and networking zones. An Awards ceremony in the
evening will bring the day to a lively and enjoyable
conclusion. I hope to see you there.
