BUSINESS NEWS

Transport management system specialist Mandata Ltd has

strengthened its operations in Northern Ireland and the

Republic of Ireland with the appointment of a new regional

sales manager.

Phil Newton, based in Belfast, joins in a move that will see him

provide dedicated sales support to local transport and haulage

companies investing in technology to drive improvements and

secure operational efficiencies.

He brings extensive experience of the haulage industry having

worked in the telecommunications and telematics sector and is

now planning to develop sales of Mandata technologies in the

region, which include the Mandata TMS and tracking and app

integrated solutions.

He believes his understanding of the challenges operators face

will help businesses get ahead with technology, which brings all

systems together under one roof to manage everything from job

orders to invoicing.

He said: “Mandata has an extremely robust, growing business, with

an excellent range of sector leading products. I’m looking forward

to showing Irish and Northern Irish customers how they too can

use our technology to streamline their operations, to secure cost

savings and other benefits.”

Mandata, which employs approximately 80 people across the UK

and Ireland, will grow its presence in Ireland, Northern Ireland and

Scotland further, as it expands its national customer base.

Chief revenue officer Steve Spark said: “We are investing in Phil’s

expertise and experience to deliver a first class, dedicated and

responsive sales and support service across the island of Ireland.

“We have a number of customers there and we’re looking to help

other like-minded business owners who can see the benefit of

implementing systems that make a real difference to their business

in challenging times.”

Ireland include Agro Merchants, Derry Refrigerated and McCulla

Ireland Ltd.

Mandata’s transport management systems, where information is

centralised on one common platform, allow collaboration between

departments and end-customers, and streamlining the order,

planning and invoicing process; enabling hauliers to grow without

the reliance on manual paper-based processes.

Kinship Logistics, which is S H Pratt Group’s logistics division,

is to work with commercial vehicle contract hire and fleet

management company, Prohire, which has supplied 25 DAF

XF480 6x2 tractor units on a 36-month contract hire basis. The

contract includes repair and maintenance, servicing, parts and

breakdowns, tyres and RFL.

The vehicles went into operation on March 1 to coincide with the

new 19-plate and the opening of the new HALO sister company

warehousing operation last year at the port of London Gateway.

Both Kinship Logistics and Halo are owned by S H Pratt which is one

of Europe’s leading fruit importers and ripeners.

The tractor units have SuperSpace cabs with luxury drivers’

seats, adaptive cruise control and Truckphone with Bluetooth

connectivity. There are numerous operational and safety features,

including latest generation drivetrain for optimum fuel efficiency,

FORS silver standard camera systems and full health and safety

catwalks.

Kinship Logistics operates throughout the UK from its head office

in Luton and the group’s new facility, HALO, at London Gateway

logistics park. Head of Compliance and Fleet, NickWaller explained,

“The higher vehicle specifications are a big advantage from a driver

comfort and safety perspective. Our customers are rightly sensitive

to the reliability and presentation of the truck fleet, given their time

critical goods. These specifications also help to future proof the

fleet as customer demands and legislation evolve.”

Joanna Griffiths, Head of Business Development at Prohire added,

“Prohire always aims to give best advice not only in terms of day

to day operational performance, presentation and economics,

but also in terms of overall cost efficiency. The idea is to exceed

customer expectations at every stage of the contract and to ensure

predictability and transparency at all times.”

Prohire supplies commercial vehicles and full fleet support services

to a wide range of business sectors including foodservice and

catering, chilled food and pharmaceuticals, builders’ merchants,

leisure retail and the brewing industry as well as to specialist
