The team at the Felling depot for Tuffnells, has made the wish
of a ten-year-old boy with autism come true, by giving him the
chance to be a driver for the day.
Tuffnells super-fan, Joshua Bancroft, of Sacriston, Durham, was
invited with his family to spend a morning with the delivery drivers
at the depot and meet his heroes in person.
This followed Joshua’s mother contacting Callum Chapman, Traffic
Supervisor at Felling, to commend a Tuffnells driver who took the
time to speak with him and let him sit in his van when he delivered
a parcel to their home.
She explained that her son loved the Tuffnells trucks and dreamed
of driving one himself. When the team realised the impact that the
kind gesture had on the young boy, they set about arranging the
special day, all geared towards making his dream come true.
During the day, in addition to getting a taste of life as a Tuffnells
driver, Joshua was presented with his very own uniform and a
Tuffnells’ lorry was named in his honour.
Lee Jackman, Area Distribution Manager at Tuffnells’ Felling, said:
“We’re so pleased we were able to arrange such a wonderful day for
one of Tuffnells’ extra-special fans.
“In total, seven members of staff gave up their Saturday morning to
make this amemorable experience for Joshua. His expression when
he saw that the truckwas named after himwas priceless, and it was
so lovely to be able to play a part in making his dreams come true.”
Joshua’s mother, Lynsey Bancroft, said of the day:
“I am overwhelmed by what the team at Tuffnells has done for
Joshua. For children with special needs, days like this are so
important. I would just like to say thank you again to the teamwho
gave up their time to make this a day that he’ll never forget.”
