Following the successful use of a set
of Stertil Koni mobile column lifts for a
number of years, Denbighshire County
Council recently purchased a second set
to support a new wash bay facility at its
Kinmel Park depot in Bodelwyddan. Each
of the ST1075FSA columns provides
a lifting capacity of 7.5 tonnes which
means that, when used as a set of four,
the combined capacity of 30 tonnes
ensures complete safety when dealing
with the largest and heaviest vehicles.
The range of vehicles lifted by the set of
Stertil Koni wash bay columns include road
sweepers and gritters plus two- and three-
axle refuse collection lorries weighing up
to 26 tonnes. “We find that the versatility
of the lifts ensures excellent accessibility
whilst steam cleaning vehicles without
needing to climb up and down ramps,”
says Workshop Manager, Mark Crompton,
“Which is a real Health and Safety benefit
for our wash bay operatives.”
Each column incorporates Stertil Koni’s
revolutionary
ebright
Smart
Control
System which provides complete flexibility
by allowing wash bay staff to operate the
columns individually, in pairs or in any
other configuration fromany column in the
set. The ST1075FSA provides a maximum
lifting height of 1.85 metres which is
reached in just 75 seconds thereby making
it one of the fastest heavy duty commercial
vehicle lifts available.
Incorporating full-colour touch screen
consoles, the ebright Smart Control System
has been designed and developed to
simplify operation by providing maximum
visual information about every lifting
operation - all at the fingertips of the
wash bay crew. For added safety and
performance, the ebright Smart Control
System also shows how many columns in
the set are being used.
The
columns
incorporate
Stertil’s
maintenance-free, synthetic runner wheel
system, which is self-lubricating, and the
system is covered by a lifetime guarantee.
An integral advanced hydraulic lifting system incorporates a
microprocessor-controlled synchronisation feature to ensure safe,
smooth and precise movement at all times.
Safety is further enhanced by an independent mechanical locking
system, incorporated into each column, which allows operatives to
securely lock the lift to prevent a vehicle from being inadvertently
lowered. The lifts were also supplied complete with a set of heavy
duty wash bay covers to ensure safe and reliable performance in a
challenging environment.
Denbighshire County Council relies on the Stertil Koni ST1075FSA
mobile column lifts to support wash bay activities throughout six
days a week. On average, the wash bay handles up to five vehicles a
day with steam cleaning taking up to two hours per vehicle.
“We’ve used Stertil Koni mobile column lifts for a few years and
they’ve never let us down,” says Mark Crompton. “In fact, if we had
more room, we would have more lifts!”
