BUSINESS NEWS
T-Systems International GmbH, Daimler AG and DKV Euro
Service have founded a joint venture company Toll4Europe
GmbH for the development and provision of the European
Electronic Toll Service (EETS) for vehicles of more than 3.5t. All
relevant competition authorities have previously given their
approval for this joint venture.
The objective of Toll4Europe GmbH is to reduce the complexity
created by thewelter of national toll chargers and service providers.
The Toll4Europe GmbH platformwill enable service providers of all
sizes to offer their customers an EETS service as a sales partner.
T-Systems owns 55 % of Toll4Europe, Daimler 30 % and DKV 15 %.
Toll4Europe will therefore be managed by T-Systems, a company
which brings over 14 years of toll experience into the joint venture
and is responsible for the technology as well as the sales partner
management.
Daimler contributes its expertise for the future integration of
the onboard unit into the vehicle. DKV’s contribution is 25 years’
experience in the toll business – and the knowhow gained from
billing 30 European tolls to currently 140,000 customers.
The introduction of the toll box is planned for 2018. At first, the box
is intended to cover Belgium, Germany, France, Austria and Poland.
The plan is to integrate Italy, Portugal, Spain and Hungary right
fromthe start as well – or very soon afterwards. In themediumterm
the aim is for all present and future road, bridge and tunnel tolls to
be collected using the same, single device.

In a separate development, DKV Euro Service has become the
first European fuel and service card provider to invoice toll charges
for the toll networks of the Croatian motorway operators HAC and
ARZ. This will allow its customers to avoid long queues and reduce
their costs. DKV customers can obtain an ENC (Elektroni
č
kaNaplata
Cestarine) onboard unit for vehicles over a 3.5t permissible total
weight. By doing this, they receive up to 35% operator discount.
Furthermore, they can use the time-saving ENC lanes at tollbooths.
Vehicles of all categories in Croatia are liable to pay tolls, but the
toll charges for vehicles in Categories III and IV can now be paid
through DKV. The onboard unit can be obtained after a quick and
simple registration process at a point-of-sale using the DKV Card
and can be immediately attached inside the vehicle. Toll charges
will be clearly itemised on your DKV invoice.

The strategic multimodal rail terminal that will provide
Verdion’s £500m iPort development in Doncaster with freight
service links to all UK ports and the Channel Tunnel is set to be
operational by early 2018.
The 35-acre multimodal railfreight terminal will be able to
accommodate trains of up to 775 metres in length and has
Continental gauge clearance for direct access to Europeanmarkets.
The iPort terminal apron has been designed to accommodate
a four-high container stack with a maximum load of 122t and
adjacent to the apron will be a container storage area.
Mark Peat, Project Manager at iPort for property and construction
consultancy Rider Levett Bucknall, states: “The rail terminal will be
live by the back end of 2017 or early 2018.”
Online retailer Amazon’s new 1,019,308 ft

fulfilment centre at
iPort, which will create 500 jobs, is also nearing completion. The
works to fit out the interior with Amazon’s logistics system and
semi-automated picking and packing operation are due to be
finished by the end of this Summer. Other lettings for Phase 1 of the
iPort scheme include Ceva, Fellowes and Lidl.

is also now complete. The 195,000 ft
2
distribution facility, called IP2e,
which also has 8,000 ft
2
of office space, is nowavailable to let and has
been the subject of several enquiries, according to Verdion.
On the wave of strong occupier interest, Verdion is now pushing
ahead with Phase 2 of the iPort development. Work has begun
preparing the groundworks for the southern part of the site, which
can accommodate almost three million ft
2
of industrial space
across various sizes of units. There is also scope for the railfreight
terminal to be extended to that part of the site, depending upon
occupier demand.
John Clements, European Development Director of Verdion, tells us:
“The groundworks have begun on Phase 2, and we will continue a
rolling programme of speculative development.”
