PALLET NETWORKS

A leading UK transport and third-party

logistics specialist has continued to invest

in its team with the appointment of a new

general manager.

Bryan Jones has joined Beaches Logistics

Group, a member of Palletways, Europe’s

largest and fastest growing express palletised

freight network, and will be working at the

company’s Carlisle depot.

As part of his role, Bryan will be responsible for retaining and

building relationships with new and existing customers and

developing the company’s new customer care team.

Commenting on the appointment, Beaches managing director, Jack

Sims said: “We are delighted to welcome Bryan to the team as he

brings a wealth of industry and local experience. His appointment

is the next step in driving the depot forward following the

significant investment into the fleet and equipment over the last

twelve months. Bryan is full of fresh ideas and will be focused on

identifying new opportunities for the business.”

Commenting, Bryan added: “This is fantastic moment to join the

Beaches team as there is so much opportunity for growth and

development. I started out as a white van driver 28 years ago,

moved into pallets, and then management. I started at the bottom

and workedmy way up, but I think that’s important as I’mout there

getting stuck in and have already secured several new customers

who are confident about the service we can provide.”

Beaches customer service team will be expanding later this year

with a new customer service manager joining the company’s

Carlisle depot. This new position will develop existing customers as

well as work with Bryan to identify and target new customers. This

underlines a period of growth for the depot which has also seen the

recruitment of new drivers over the past fewmonths.

Beaches Logistics Group is a network of dependable haulage and

warehousing businesses with depots across the UK including

Carlisle, Milton Keynes and Oxford.

The company is one of over 115 independent transport providers

that are part of Palletways’ UK network. They benefit from

shared expertise and resources from within the group to deliver

consignments of palletised freight to market faster and more cost

effectively than ever before. The Palletways Group comprises 400

depots and 20 hub operations, through which it provides collection

and distribution services across 20 European countries, including

the UK.

Nottinghamshire-based B Taylor & Sons Transport has returned

to the Fortec DistributionNetwork.

The move comes as the company, based in Huthwaite, near

Mansfield, enters into its next phase of development.

Taylors was formed by Barry Taylor in 1974 and his son Alan has

been at the helm of the business as Managing Director for the past

26 years.

Alan said: “We had been with Fortec for five years but moved

to another network almost a decade or so ago. However, in our

experience, Fortec is a perfect fit for us now. It’s a smaller network

with quality taking precedence over volume which is ideal for a firm

like ours which shares that same ethos.”

It is the quality of service which, since its formation, has allowed

B Taylor & Sons Transport to enjoy continued growth. Today, the

company employs a 300-strong workforce, operates a fleet of 200

vehicles and 300 trailers and the group turnover is in excess of £20

million.

The company is building a 20,000 sq ft warehouse in Huthwaite, in

addition to the two existing sites which occupy Taylors’ six acres of

land.

Taylors has also just expanded its fleet with five Mercedes Actros

2545 tractor units and is awaiting the arrival of 10 new trailers.

Furtherdevelopmentsofthecompanyincludeitsrecentaccreditation

to conduct on-site driver training and testing after appointing its

own examiner from the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency.

Alan said: “Since B Taylor & Sons Transport was first formed, we have

been lucky enough to grow and evolve continuously and we put this

down to our customer-centric focus and our vision.

“Everyone in our team – from our managers to our drivers, and

including our sales staff, admin team and engineers – has always

operatedwith the customer inmind.

“We know fromour previous experiencewith Fortec that the network

shares our ethos and it is great that we can join the network for the

next phase of our journey.”

Rebecca Wayte, Regional Commercial Manager, Fortec Distribution

Network said: “We are delighted that B Taylor & Sons Transport has

returned to the fold.

“Alan and his team are highly respected among the longer-serving

members of Fortec which had the pleasure of working with the team

when they were part of the network previously. In fact, the company

is highly respected across the wider transport community in the

Midlands and further afield where Taylors have established a solid

reputation.

“We look forward to working with the company again for the benefit

of Fortec, Taylors and our respective customers.”
