The end-to-end management of plastic and metal seals is becoming more and more important as the pressure on firms to reduce plastic waste in the environment continues.
Labeline International explains the importance of keeping abreast of regulatory change & of being aware of future developments – such as the move towards adopting electronic DG documentation.
The Unique Seal
Single use security seals are numbered and perhaps barcoded too, to make capturing data easier and more accurate. The reason for numbering is to make every security seal unique and auditable. Firstly to the issuer, then to whom it is issued, the container it secures and finally the vehicle it was loaded onto. At the destination the seal number is matched to the manifest prior to being broken and the contents accessed. If the seal number fails to match the manifest then goods are either rejected back to the sender or the whole consignment secured by that seal must be audited and reconciled to the manifest.
All businesses, large or small, should always be on the look out for ways in which they can improve their operations; more efficiency, more profit. For those in the haulage industry, opportunities to improve efficiency are not necessarily easy to come by, often it can be factors outside of their control that can impact their bottom line. Fuel prices and emissions charges are just two examples of ways in which haulage companies can suffer, without the ability to do anything. However, they can quickly and easily streamline one aspect of their operations with SNAP Account.
