Culina Group – A £2.2 Billion logistics provider with an amazing growth trajectory

Culina Group – A £2.2 Billion logistics provider with an amazing growth trajectory

These continue to be exciting times for both Culina Group customers and colleagues. The company, founded in 1994, has seen many positive developments over the years and its recent growth has certainly been quite startling.

With an overall turnover of more than £2.2 Billion, a workforce of around 22,000 colleagues at peak, approaching 20 million square feet of warehousing and a fleet of more than 5,500 vehicles, Culina Group is the largest privately owned logistics provider in the UK.

In July 2021, Culina Group announced an acquisition that shook the Logistics Sector. It was the highly publicised agreement to take over GreenWhiteStar Acquisitions, a substantial organisation in its own right and the parent company of leading businesses - Eddie Stobart, Eddie Stobart Europe, iForce, The Pallet Network, and Logistics People.

Culina Group significantly strengthened its already strong market leading position with this landmark acquisition, and now has over one hundred strategically located distribution centres across the UK, Ireland, and indeed into Europe.

The recently enhanced company structure has also been complemented by a comprehensive new brand identity as part of the on-going development of the business. The impactful new identity, launched at the end of 2021, has been designed to symbolise the businesses dynamic and exciting future and further demonstrates the forward thinking mind-set of Culina Group. The roll out of the new identity across the fleet and network will be completed by September 2024, however newly branded vehicles are already visible on the UK’s roads.

Culina Group is now split into three distinct sectors – Chilled Logistics Solutions, Ambient Logistics Solutions, and Industrial Support Services. These sectors organise and showcase the now extensive portfolio of companies that make up the group.

Chilled Logistics Solutions –

Culina – Provides integrated supply chain services and expertise for food and drink products requiring strict refrigerated temperatures

IPS – Provides co-packing, co-filling, and co-manufacturing solutions to some of the best known brands

Logistics People – A specialist labour resource provider and recruitment agency for the distribution sector

Whilst ensuring smooth continuation of service for all customers, the last six months has seen further evolution of the overall business. Opportunities to build synergy between business elements are being maximised as the Culina Group structure continues to evolve with a clear focus on the next chapter in its growth.

Going forward, an IT driven 3PL culture and environment is being established within Culina Group. This will include a new innovation hub where new logistics support technologies will be created building towards Web 3.0. It’s a new 3PL culture that will make a meaningful contribution to further growth of all Group businesses.

Culina Group moves into 2022 as a company with a great reputation, vast knowledge, extensive expertise, and huge resources optimised by a cutting edge approach to the further evolution of its businesses and business partnerships with its customers. These are exciting times indeed.
