VBG Group Sales Limited – the UK team behind the continuing success
Established in Vanersborg, Sweden in 1951, the VBG Group is a world leader in the design, manufacture and supply of equipment and systems to the truck and trailer industry. Today, the Group employs over 1,600 people in 18 countries and comprises four divisions – VBG Truck Equipment, Edsha Trailer Systems, Mobile Climate Control and Ringfeder Power Transmissions.
Within the UK and Ireland, the Group is represented by Warrington-based VBG Group Sales Limited. The 4,500 sq ft premises includes an office complex, a warehouse and an in-house training facility to accommodate product, service and maintenance training for engineers. In addition, the company utilises a bespoke mobile training trailer which enables comprehensive product and engineering instruction to be carried out on customers’ premises. The UK team is headed up by Howard Ostle who, with extensive knowledge and experience of vehicle couplings, is UK Sales and Marketing Manager.
Having gained a real passion for the vehicle couplings industry whilst working in various roles for many leading companies, including York Trailers and Dayton Walther, Howard has been responsible for driving the UK success since 1990. He says, “We pride ourselves on extremely fast availability of products and spares from the Group’s main factory and warehouse in Sweden. Our vast UK stock also enables us to react swiftly to meet customer demand for drawbar couplings and chassis installation kits to cover all makes of truck. An important part of our operation is the ability to supply a comprehensive range that includes the VBG underrun systems thereby confirming our market leading position as a one stop shop for products that connect truck and trailer – from the VBG coupling to the VBG trailer drawbar connection.”
Howard’s team includes Ann Houghton who is an experienced Customer Service Manager and has been involved in the VBG business since 1984. Ann previously worked as PA to the general manager of VBG concessionaire, which was part of
JR Billows group before transferring to her current role in 1990. As a key member of the company, Ann has broad knowledge of the UK coupling industry and continues to play an important part in developing the VBG brand whilst gaining expertise in all aspects of the business including technical, legislative and regulatory issues.
Ian Harrison began working at VBG Group Sales Limited in 2006 with responsibilities for the company’s warehouse. Since then, the company has steadily grown and Ian now oversees the fulfilment of orders and the distribution of parts throughout the UK and Ireland in his role as Customer Services Assistant.
As an experienced salesman, Ian Herbert has many years of experience within the UK’s 5th Wheel business and joined the VBG team in 2016. With a solid engineering background, Ian understands the demands and requirements of all types of users and, as Southern Area Sales Manager, not only handles sales negotiations but also provides training and technical support to customers located in a wide area that extends from the Midlands to the South Coast.
“The VBG Group continues to prove that offering the industry’s best product range supported by first class customer service is a winning combination,” says Howard. “We are proud that we have many loyal customers who are still relying upon unrivalled levels of performance and reliability from their VBG equipment after more than 20 years of daily use in demanding applications.”
