The postponed introduction of Transport for London’s (TfL’s) Direct Vision Standard will go ahead in March 2021. As part of Transport for London’s Vision Zero Action Plan, the Direct Vision Standard aims to tackle road danger at its source by minimising HGVs’ blind spots, which contribute to many tragic deaths and life-changing injuries. This improvement, which will now be included in future European road safety regulations, will have safety benefits for people walking, cycling and riding motorcycles, who are amongst the most vulnerable on London’s roads.
