At its core, the RAM-101U uses RAM^®’s proven ball and socket technology: two 2.5” diameter round ball bases connected by a 6-inch C size double socket arm. The 1.5” C size ball is the sweet spot in the RAM^® range for tablet-sized loads, offering the ideal balance of adjustability and holding strength. Once positioned, the arm locks firm and stays there, resisting the constant vibration and shock that vehicle-mounted equipment faces every single day. The near-infinite adjustability of the ball and socket system is one of those features that sounds like marketing language until you actually use it. Installation is straightforward. The bare-wire input connects directly to the vehicle’s power source, any 10-30V DC supply, covering everything from standard 12V cars and vans through to 24V HGVs, making this a genuinely universal solution across mixed commercial fleets. From there, a 1-metre USB Type-C male output cable feeds power into the GDS^® Tough-Dock™, delivering a consistent 5.42–9V output at up to 2.5A. The 2.5-metre input cable provides enough reach to route cleanly through a vehicle interior without improvised extensions.
