Truck and Track Summer 2021
Truck and Track Summer 2021 www.truckandtrack.com 52 DANGEROUS GOODS it did leave our plans for the year in disarray. We have moved to just hosting webinars (attracting record numbers) and we ran a very successful virtual AGM Industry Day. We also welcomed four new people to the committee and restructured the subcommittees to allow quicker decision making. RS: So how is your management committee structured? MS: I am the Chair supported by the Vice Chair and Treasurer. There are four sub-groups – Events, Finance, Media and Technical each with a Chair and the titles pretty much cover their remit. RS: Going forward, what are BADGP’s primary objectives? MS: Firstly, it’s to maintain same level with regards to regular webinars and, when restrictions are lifted, start doing seminars again. Secondly, to continue working with the DfT and other government departments to provide support and informationwherewe can. We areworkingwith the DfT to develop a newDGSAmentoring/support program. Thirdly, to develop further contacts with other groups and associations with similar aims in the UK and internationally. RS: Howmanymembers do you currently have and howmuch does it cost to join BADGP? MS: We currently have 320 members, though this varies over the year as we moved a rolling 12-month membership last year rather than everyone renewing on Jan 1st. That, and the introduction of Corporate Membership (companies paying for named individuals), have led to a steady rise in membership. Annual membership costs £80.00 per person and we have very recently brought in Student membership at £25.00 per person. I am very grateful to Andy, Caroline and Mark for their time and for their insightful observations on the history and the workings of BADGP.
