Truck and Track Spring 2020 www.truckandtrack.com 46 SAFETY & SECURITY Transport for London (TfL) has recently announced that it has selected AECOM as the concessionaire to take over the management and operation of the award winning Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS). FORS is an extremely successful scheme but as 65 per cent of accredited operators are now based outside London it has grown beyond TfL’s remit. To ensure it can continue to grow, TfL has appointed AECOM to run FORS, following an extensive and thorough procurement process. This will enable FORS to become a national scheme using a sustainable business model to cover operating costs and future development. This announcement does not change FORS standards or accreditation. AECOM has been the FORS administrator since 2008, they understand how FORS works, its value to the industry and is committed to its long-term growth and success. TfL will continue to support FORS and retains an integral role as the industry led accreditation scheme becomes national. The direction of FORS will be overseen by a governance board that will include TfL and key industry representatives. The concession began in January, when AECOM took over the management, development and growth of FORS in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and Fleet Source. Systems for FORS, CLOCS and Crossrail Vision UK offers an array of products that have achieved accreditation from the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) and Construction Logistics and Community Safety (CLOCS). The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) is a voluntary accreditation scheme that promotes best practice for commercial vehicle operators. With over 4,900 members, FORS is gaining recognition as the transport industry’s go-to accreditation scheme. FORS encompasses all aspects of safety, efficiency, and environmental protection by encouraging and training fleet operators to measure, monitor and improve performance. FORS provides accreditation pathways for operators of any type, and for those organisations that award contracts and specify transport requirements. FORS Bronze, Silver and Gold membership provides progressive accreditation enabling operators to achieve exemplary levels of best practice. The CLOCS scheme provides the Construction Logistics Industry with the best practice for managing work related road risk (WRRR) and ensuring a road safety culture is embedded across the industry. This scheme helps to protect pedestrians, cyclists, motorcycles and other vulnerable road users who share the roads with construction vehicles. The FORS silver requirements are now aligned to the requirements of the Construction Logistics and Community Safety (CLOCS) Standard and TfL’s Work Related Road Risk (WRRR) requirements. To help Fleet Operators meet the safety requirements of the FORS and CLOCS Scheme, Vision UK offers three systems packages designed to meet the specific requirements of the different levels of the scheme (Bronze/ Silver/ Gold). Vision UK offers expanding range of packages to meet FORS requirements
