TruckandTrackSpring2020
www.truckandtrack.com Spring 2020 Truck and Track 3 FOREWORD by Barbara Ryan, Publishing Director, Truck and Track As anation, wehave experienced somemomentous events during the last few months. Our last issue of Truck and Track magazinewas published against a backcloth of Brexit and discussions concerning how British industry, if not the whole British way of life, would be affected. Now, just a few short months later, we are facing unprecedented changes due to the Coronavirus. We may have swapped the B word for the C word (and plenty of other words spring to mind all too easily) but, in my opinion, we must all remain focused on what we do best. It’s up to all of us to keep wheels turning and freight moving to ensure that the UK continues to flourish and prosper. In fact, since I began writing this column, news has arrived that this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show has been cancelled and Multimodal 2020 has been rescheduled. It will now take place at the NEC on 4th – 6th November. Although this Spring issue was to have included features on both of these exhibitions, we have obviously had to make some late and drastic changes to the contents. As usual, this issue contains announcements of revolutionary products, sizeable orders, case studies andpersonnel appointments that provide a clear snapshot of our industry’s ‘business as usual’ credentials. TruTac provides the heads up on its newmanagement software for fleet maintenance and compliance. Cartwright gives the low down on its new advanced lifting deck maxi wedge trailer whilst Totalkare highlights its new headlamp testers and smoke meters. Descartes focuseson road transport efficiency solutions and how to achieve a frictionless retail experience. Also, whilst announcing outstanding 2019 results, Lytx reveals risky driving trends and identifies the UK’s most dangerous roads. I hope you enjoy reading this issue and I wish you all good health in the face of extremely challenging circumstances.
