And Training… For those who ship products that contain lithium batteries classified as Section II, such as laptops and mobile phones, our online course provides “Adequate Instruction”. The course can be done at any time, and it is neither expensive nor very time consuming. The Online training courses we offer for the IMDG Code are function specific, as the training needs to be for consignors, loaders, operators etc. There are also general awareness courses and modules for ADR. All this, together with our DGSA and GHS consultancy services, means that Labeline really is the one-stop shop for dangerous goods compliance. RS: That’s quite a portfolio! If you started today, do you think that the business would be as successful as it is? KK: I don’t think so. It was that moment in time where it all magnetised together. My original plan was to combine my creative art skills and sell this support package to industry. I thought that I would just about make me a living for my family. Instead Labeline took off very quickly, partly due to me knocking on the doors of airport operators and other stakeholders in the DG sector. Recently you wrote an article about the British Association of Dangerous Goods Professionals (BADGP), it surprised me when I read that the association was formed as recently as 2010! I recall many discussions about the idea much earlier with the late Desmond Waight who was a champion of DG knowledge with 3M, later to become an independent DG leader in his field. So, after 30 years, I am still driven by the development of Labeline. Things haven’t slowed down; they’ve only got bigger and better for the company. You could say that Dangerous Goods now runs my life!
