As usual, this issue is jam packed with industry news, feature articles, c se studies, new product launches and contract announcements. We are also delighted to publish an article from Christopher Snelling who is Head of UK Policy at FTA. In his article, Christopher examines whether or not the government is taking the right approach with its air quality schemes. Training is another sector to be highlighted in this issue with an article from Laura Nelson, Managing Director for RTITB who explains how training can help close the transport industry’s skills gap. The world of training was also very much to the fore at this year’s Talent in Logistics annual conference. As a proud media partner, we were delighted to support and attend the event which comprised a mix of inspirational speakers, live competitions and a sensational awards evening. AO Logistics was a winner in the Innovative Training Programme category whilst GTG Training scooped the award for Training Provider of the Year and Eddie Stobart picked up the Training Team of the Year award. Alongside these corporate successes, a number of individuals from training companies were nominated and special congratulations are due to Matthew Brooks of Rock City Stage Crew whose dedication and hard work were recognised with the prestigious Instructor of the Year award. We have also included a special focus on Ports in this issue. With contributions from a number of organisations, including Associated British Ports and the British Ports Association, we report on the UK’s first Port Economic Partnership, the continuing investment in East Anglian ports and the UK’s first port operator to adopt women’s personal protection equipment. Of course, all our regular industry sections are included with information and advice on dangerous goods, pallet networks, batteries and battery management, telematics, fuel management, safety & security, trailers and much more. I hope you enjoy the read!
