Truck and Track Winter 2021-22

Truck and Track Winter 21/22 www.truckandtrack.com 72 DANGEROUS GOODS Every business has had to adapt and accommodate the restrictions imposed on us over the last two years. For Labeline, the biggest change that we have had to get used to has been the lack of face-to-face meetings with customers and colleagues in the dangerous goods industry. Modern technology has, of course, helped to soften the blow during this time, with webinars and online meetings becoming the norm for sharing information and delivering essential training. However, it is no substitute, and we know that many of the training companies that we work with, and their customers, are delighted to be back in the classroom again - albeit with an air of caution. After a gap of nearly 18 months, the opportunity to support industry events finally came round again this Autumn. ChemUK, in September, hosted representatives from all aspects of the chemical industry from processing equipment, software, distribution, supply chain, labelling, compliance and more. This major event at the NEC was very well attended and, on the Labeline stand, we were pleased to make a lot of new contacts and meet a good number of our existing customers. The event also saw the unveiling of our DG table which is adorned with some of Labeline’s hazard labels and placards. It certainly had an impact and drew admiring comments including, from the representative a label supplier: “That’s impressive - are they really labels?” Next stop for the table was Coventry a couple of weeks later, and back to where we were in the week that the first lockdown was announced back in 2020. Labeline has sponsored all the events that the British Association of Dangerous Goods Professionals (BADGP) has held since its inception 11 years ago and this one, entitled “DGProfessionals and Beyond” was no exception. It was a very informative seminar that included talks from the Department for Transport, a discussion on the benefits of a standard DGSA report template, and an interactive session on the benefits of launching a development programme for DG professionals.
