So far, Carbon Neutral Britain™ projects have offset over three million tonnes of CO₂e and planted over two million trees, helping stop climate change and providing essential forest habitats for endangered wildlife. Through its projects and offsetting initiatives, the aim of Carbon Neutral Britain™ is to inspire and educate Britain to make a difference. “At UPN, we have a real commitment to do what we can to help protect our planet,” said David Brown, “Team UPN, all our staff, all our members and all our suppliers are fully committed to help us to drive forward this very important initiative. Furthermore, UPN are hoping that, by being the first network to go Carbon Neutral, we will encourage others to follow so that, as a sector, we can all make a real difference.” “This new partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain™ is UPN’s commitment to optimise our ethical position in this crucial area. UPN has a moral obligation to do as much as we can. This is in no way the easy option however, at the moment, it’s the most impactful way we can make a difference.” The Carbon Footprint of all UPN Deliveries is calculated and audited by Carbon Neutral Britain™, via the ISO 14064 and GHG Emissions Protocol Accounting Standards - the corporate standards used by all businesses globally (including the UK Government and Public Agencies). Quarterly in advance, UPN and Carbon Neutral Britain™ calculate the carbon footprint of all UPN deliveries based on the mileage and vehicles operated across the fleet. Calculating the exact emissions each quarter, the carbon footprint figures will be Carbon Offset to reverse the impact of emissions created from the vehicle travel. UPN’s carbon footprint is measured in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e) for the previous year, or financial year, and a Carbon Emissions Report is produced. The UPN delivery carbon footprint is offset by supporting verified projects around the world to reverse total tCO₂e emissions. The exact Carbon Footprint calculations of UPN Deliveries are Carbon Offset quarterly by Carbon Neutral Britain™ and all UPN deliveries are certified as Carbon Neutral. UPN has established a unique position in the Pallet Network Sector with its “Unique IQ” initiative. This initiative focuses on the company’s distinct point of difference, its bespoke IT support systems and infrastructure and its quality driven focus on service excellence. Established in 2001, UPN has grown strongly and steadily into a high quality palletised freight distribution network. Focused on growth through member success, UPN currently have over 90 members covering the whole of the UK, and European partners providing coverage throughout 26 countries. By being the first network to go Carbon Neutral, UPN aim to encourage others to follow. Increased Greenhouse Gas emissions are measured in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e) which are the biggest cause of Global Warming on our Planet. In the UK, businesses account for over 85% of total emissions, making corporate action the number one priority in helping stop climate change. By Offsetting its Carbon Footprint and funding projects to remove CO₂e from the atmosphere, UPN is doing all it can to balance out its delivery emissions to become 100% Carbon Neutral. UPN is acting NOW and playing its part for the planet NOW. upn.co.uk carbonneutralbritain.org United Pallet Network appoint Bob Delaney as Business Development Director United Pallet Network (UPN) is pleased to announce the appointment of Bob Delaney as Business Development Director.
