With an ever-growing list of new clients and many long-term customers who regard Merridale’s help desk as their greatest asset, it became clear that the team needed to grow in order to maintain the standards of service they have become known for. “I joined Merridale six months ago and from pretty much day one, my bubbly personality has been my lead factor when speaking to customers and colleagues. I might have started off quiet but now they just can’t shut me up. My role is to ensure that all customer enquiries to our service and support team are attended to and resolved as efficiently as possible which means there is never a dull day here at Merridale. There’s always something new to get your teeth into, which is good for me as I never back down from a challenge. “Merridale is a very warm and welcoming place, everyone greets you with a smile and, from day one of being here, I knew it was somewhere I could see me working way into the future. When I applied for the role, I’d only ever had one other full-time job as a Law Receptionist, so I wasn’t sure I’d even get an interview. I was ecstatic to be called in so I could highlight my skills, confidence and what I could bring to the role. Once the interview was over, I chose to take a risk and I asked them ‘How do you feel the interview has gone?’ Little did I know, a week later I would be offered the position of Service & Support Assistant. “I settled in immediately and every day I learn something new with the help of Carole, Emma and Kara helping me grow more and more confident in my role. I feel I’ve really fitted in at Merridale because I’m always keen to learn and go above and beyond to maintain the highest standards. Merridale really feels like a family, and we all work hard together to make sure that the ship keeps sailing for us and our customers.” www.merridale.co.uk Natasha Harrison Day Aggregates Label Merridale “Bulletproof” Day Aggregates, a nationwide leader in the sustainable supply of aggregates to the construction sector, first had a Merridale refuelling and monitoring system install at their Brentford site in 2004. Remarkably, with the help of regular services and some upgrades, the original Auditor FS pump is still in use two decades later. With time, the family run business has grown into a network of branches, recycling depots and quarries across nearly 20 locations. All of which have been installed with some variation of the Merridale pump and management system. Stuart Holmes of Day Aggregates, said, “I’ve been with The Day Group for over 20 years now and we’ve always used Merridale throughout that time. I’ve seen us expand vastly over the years and have always been confident enough with Merridale to continue to install their systems in each new depot.” Although some of these systems are Merridale’s older models that still function reliably, many of the newer branches now use Merridale’s MX range. Built to be the complete solution in commercial fuelling and designed to meet strict ATEX standards, the Merridale MX-I is a highly accurate and reliable fuel pump that has a built-in management system, capable of controlling up to four pumps and communicating with Merridale’s reporting software, FuelWorks. “The Merridale kit is near enough bulletproof! We have over 200 vehicles using them each day, so naturally you get wear and tear at times but, aside from that, we have never had any issues. The system stands up to everything we throw at it.” As well as having Merridale MX-T tank management systems installed across the network, The Day Group also use Merridale MX-M fuel management systems at sites without Merridale pumps, still enabling a link up to Merridale’s FuelWorks reporting software. With this, they benefit further from features such as fuel stock prediction, automatic delivery detection, low-level warnings and order prompts, all accessible on any web-enabled device. “With Merridale FuelWorks, we can access any of our refuelling and tank data on the spot, wherever we are. This is invaluable when it comes to monitoring and reporting on 19 different locations.” Merridale FuelWorks also allows fleet operators to have multiple users across multiple sites accessing unrivalled reporting features including fuel, cost, environmental impact and vehicle and driver performance.
