Her Royal Highness will be visiting the show on 13th June in her capacity as Patron of Transaid, the international development charity founded by Save the Children, The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), and HRH The Princess Royal. Transaid and Multimodal have a deep and long-standing relationship forged over the last 15 years. Many of Multimodal’s clients are corporate sponsors of Transaid and the charity has been the Official Multimodal Charity for that period of time. Robert Jervis, Event Director for Multimodal commented, “We are incredibly honoured that Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal will be visiting Multimodal and we very much look forward to welcoming her again. “Like us, she is very passionate about the role that Transaid plays in changing lives for the better, and the role that the UK logistics industry can play in that mission. We hope that her visit further highlights how companies can get involved with Transaid and the vital work that they do.” Caroline Barber, CEO of Transaid added, “Our partnership with Multimodal is very special. Over the years, the event has facilitated the formation of many of Transaid’s key corporate partnerships. “We are delighted that The Princess Royal will be attending Multimodal 2024, and we look forward to introducing Her Royal Highness to many of our important supporters who have helped to make Transaid the organisation it is today.” Multimodal 2024 given royal seal of approval with visit from HRH The Princess Royal Atlantic Container line AB (ACL) is teaming up with BG Freight Line (BGFL) and Peel Ports in Liverpool and Dublin to provide a new service that will significantly improve transit times and reliability in both directions between Ireland and North America. The BGFL Liverpool-Ireland service is being upgraded. Its new Irish schedule will depart from Belfast late on Monday and from Dublin early on Friday to connect with the ACL ship in Liverpool on Saturday, arriving back in Dublin on Sunday and in Belfast on Monday before returning to Dublin for the next Friday departure. This new service will have transit times 1-2 weeks faster than every other transatlantic service to/from Dublin and Belfast. Most importantly, the reliability will significantly improve as well, due to additional spare time in the schedule. ACL is able to achieve the faster transits because: ■ ACL’s schedule – with Liverpool as first port into Europe and last port out of Europe – gives it the fastest transatlantic service to/from the UK and Ireland. There are no intermediate European ports that add time. ■ Liverpool is the closest deep sea port to both Dublin and Belfast. Continental ports are 3-4 times further away. Liverpool requires one day less steaming to/from Dublin and 1.5 days less to/from Belfast. Less time/less fuel/less cost/ environmentally cleaner. ■ ACL and BGFL have agreed to coordinate their schedules to minimize connection time at Liverpool. BGFL will arrive in Liverpool immediately after the incoming ACL eastbound ship and immediately before the departing ACL westbound ship. ■ Liverpool is giving ACL and BGFL berth and crane priority on this new service to ensure smooth connections every week. ■ BGFL, Marine Terminals Ltd (MTL) in Dublin and Royal Seaforth Container Terminal (RSCT) in Liverpool are all companies of the Peel Ports Group, enabling them to guarantee performance both at the ocean terminals and at sea. ACL has called at the Port of Liverpool for 57 consecutive years, so our relationships with the Peel Ports Group and its companies have a long and productive history. ACL is exhibiting at Multimodal 2024 on stand 5032 and Peel Ports is sponsoring the VIP Lounge on stand Y2000. CL announces new, faster service to and from Ireland Guernsey post parcel sorter £1.8 million investment - Multimodal Stand L10 The BOWE GROUP is one of the world’s leading suppliers of smart automation and IoT solutions for the entire internal added value chain and beyond. The Group’s strong brands are active in the fields of document and card processing, mail logistics as well as intralogistics and software. BOWE SYSTEC successfully won the Guernsey Post contract at its Envoy House Headquarters to design and install a parcel sorting system, facilitating transition from a primarily manual process to an automated one. Given Guernsey’s island status, where high volumes of mail pass through the postal system daily, the sorter needed to handle a diverse range of product and sizes as the system required exceptional adaptability and efficiency. With the transportation of mail volumes by sea and air being susceptible to island weather conditions and affecting processing timeframes, the system also needed to meet efficiency targets to be useful. The finalised design features a 183-destination horizontal push tray sorter with six induction stations, five-sided OCR/barcode reading, dimensioning, and inline weighing, operating at 6,400 parcels per hour. The installation commenced in June 2023, integrating components from Bowe Group subsidiaries including Bowe Intralogistics with partner solutions provided by Planet intelligent systems GmbH and Sick (UK) Limited. The go-live date was successfully met and the system is now fully operational, meeting the daily demands for our customer. Ongoing maintenance is a collaboration between BOWE UK and the Guernsey Post engineering team, fostering a partnership that we anticipate will be enduring and successful.
