Truck and Track Spring 2026

Truck and Track Spring 2026 www.truckandtrack.com 10 BUSINESS NEWS Descartes Systems Group, the global leader in uniting logisticsintensive businesses in commerce, is showcasing its latest artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled fleet, routing, telematics and customer engagement innovations at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2026, taking place April 21–23 at the NEC Birmingham. At this year’s show, Descartes is demonstrating how its solutions leverage advanced fleet, routing, telematics and customer engagement tools to help organisations of all sizes gain real-time visibility, optimise delivery performance, deliver exceptional customer service and improve delivery performance in a market where just doing ‘OK’ is no longer OK. “Fleet operators can’t afford to settle for an ‘OK’ performance anymore. With margins under pressure, rising customer expectations, and increasingly demanding sustainability targets, there’s more pressure than ever on fleet operators today,” said Andrew Tavener, Head of Fleet Marketing EMEA at Descartes. “Because of this, organisations that actively seek smarter, data-driven ways to operate will gain a clear edge in the current climate. AI-powered route planning and proactive customer notifications allow operators to continuously refine route plans, improve safety, enhance ETA accuracy and make smarter long-term decisions about fleet composition and depot strategy. At the CV Show, we’re demonstrating how fleets can move beyond reactive execution and make ‘WOW’ their new delivery standard, all driven by data-led precision.” The technology innovations and enhancements Descartes is showcasing at the CV Show include: ■ AI-enabled Fleet and Last Mile Capabilities to Execute Reliably and Profitably ■ AI-enabled safety technologies to monitor driving behavior and proactively address risk. ■ AI-driven service time predictions that are continuously refined based on real-time conditions such as traffic, weather and delivery constraints. ■ AI-driven analytics proactively identify and mitigate delivery risks, helping customers maintain service reliability at scale. Descartes is also speaking in the Technical Theatre at the Commercial Vehicle Show: ■ Profitable Fleets Rethink Their Network First – Here’s How You Can Too - April 21, 11:15am ■ Beyond the Fastest Route: How AI is Changing Route Optimisation - April 22, 12:00pm ■ Cutting Emissions, Costs, and Complaints: The Real ROI of Sustainable Last-Mile Delivery - April 23, 11:15am To learn more about Descartes’ technology innovations and how to calculate the savings and CO2 reductions your fleet could make, visit Descartes at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2026 on stand 5F103. www.descartes.com Descartes Showcases AI-Enabled Fleet and Last-Mile Innovations at Commercial Vehicle Show 2026 DP World Antwerp Gateway has achieved the highest annual container volume in its history, handling 2,470,700 TEU in 2025, an 8.6% increase compared to the previous year. December alone saw 224,700 TEU handled at the terminal, 14% more than the same month last year and the second-highest month on record, surpassed only by March 2025’s record 233,000 TEU. The performance reinforces the terminal’s position as one of Europe’s leading deep‑sea container hubs. The record was achieved in a year marked by economic uncertainty and operational volatility across global shipping networks, including congestion at container terminals and an unprecedented level of industrial action in parts of the supply chain. Edi Cioran, CEO of DP World Antwerp Gateway, said: “Last year was a remarkable year for the terminal. Achieving our highestever throughput is a testament to the dedication of our people, the trust of our customers and the strength of our long-term investment strategy. This record underscores our commitment to building a resilient, intelligent and sustainable terminal that supports the needs of European and global trade. “October 2025 marked two decades of Antwerp Gateway, a period defined by innovation, partnership and continuous growth. The record-breaking performance achieved in 2025 sets a strong foundation for the terminal’s next chapter,” Cioran added. DP World Antwerp Gateway operates around the clock, 24/7, managing cargo flows for global and regional supply chains on a massive scale. Each shift is supported by approximately 120 dock workers, excluding support teams. Key operational capabilities include: ■ 15 quay cranes ■ 63 straddle carriers, including 55 hybrid units ■ 23 automated stacking cranes (ASCs) modules, expanding to 27 by 2026 ■ 3 large berths and 2 feeder/barge berths ■ Support for 20 weekly services ■ 16m draft, enabling accommodation of the world’s largest vessels A major expansion programme – launched in 2020 and completing in 2026 – is transforming the terminal while maintaining 100% operational continuity, even through challenges such as the pandemic. Recent upgrades include: ■ Retrofitting ASC modules to increase stacking density, boosting yard capacity by 30% ■ Expansion of automated operations and digital optimisation tools ■ Continued rollout of hybrid equipment to reduce emissions ■ First-in-region night operations and incentivised night logistics, improving distribution flows and reducing congestion DP World Antwerp Gateway hits record 2.47 million TEU in 2025 Milestone performance highlights terminal’s role in Europe’s trade future TRUCK & TRAILER SOLUTIONS WELCOME TOALLPORTS GROUP allportsgroup.co.uk
