Truck and Track Spring 2024 Spring 2024 Truck and Track 3 IT’S SHOW TIME! by Barbara Ryan, Publishing Director, Truck and Track Was it really a year ago that a major focus for many companies and organisations was the CV Show? Well, the past 12 months seem to have flown by as we look forward to this year’s event. Once again taking place at the Birmingham NEC, the 2024 Commercial Vehicle Show will be welcoming exhibitors and visitors on 23rd-25th April. Heralded as ‘The beating heart of Britain’s green road transport industry’, this year’s event is set to uphold its continuing success. Now in its 23rd year, the organisers expect to welcome around 12,000 buyers and 200 exhibitors to the show. Visitors will have the opportunity to look ahead to a zero-emission future being delivered by the world’s largest brands and some of the most innovative components and solutions providers. In this issue, we have included an extensive feature on the United Pallet Network. Headed up by MD David Brown, the thriving company launched ‘SmartFREIGHT’ this year which the company believes is now the most extensive range of pallet size options available within the sector. Also, Farsley Transport, a founder member company of UPN, is the first company in Yorkshire to include an electric vehicle in its fleet – an articulated Volvo EV. Dangerous Goods is always a popular topic with Truck and Track readers and this month’s issue includes a comprehensive article from Ali Karim focusing on the safe carriage of flammable liquids. Also within the section, Richard Shreeve, Labeline’s Compliance Manager, discusses the enforcement of the Dangerous Goods Regulations with Nicola Jaynes, Principal Inspector at the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR). We’re pleased to include details of a ‘million tonne’ milestone for HS2’s Quainton freight trains. Also within our Railfreight section, GB Railfreight has named a Class 66 locomotive ‘Ipswich Town’ during a ceremony at Ipswich Station. The company has also selected Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity) to be its new charity partner after receiving 50 different nominations from its 1,400 train crew and staff. My team and I have worked hard to produce an informative and interesting issue - we hope you will enjoy the read.
