The family business will be working with Palletline from its Derbyshire site to provide network distribution services alongside its range of haulage, contract packing and warehousing solutions. Established in 1965, Lockwood’s early history lies in the production and delivery of frozen foods. With refrigerated vehicles still a relatively new invention at the time, deliveries were only scheduled for the colder winter months, but the owners quickly seized the opportunity to utilise its fleet all year round and expanded its services to suit a range of customers and their products. As time progressed, the company branched out into other areas, delivering wide ranging products for a range of customers and keeping the vehicles on the road all year round. Today Lockwood has over 600,000 sq ft of warehousing across seven sites, employs a 200-strong workforce and operates 86 vehicles with 219 trailers. Last year, the business celebrated eight consecutive years of BRC accreditation at the highest grade: AA*.
