Truck and Track Autumn 2022 www.truckandtrack.com 50 WORKSHOP EQUIPMENT Nationwide recovery specialist Crouch Recovery has upgraded its workshop facilities after taking a Light Commercial Four Post Lift from workshop equipment experts, Totalkare. Crouch Recovery, focus of popular Channel 5 series ‘Trucking Hell’, own and manages a varied fleet of over 150 vans, tow trucks and other heavy and light recovery vehicles, all featured on the show. They provide breakdown recovery and roadside assistance to a wide variety of clients, including hauliers, fleet management companies, and various emergency services, including a recently acquired Warwickshire Police contract. Having previously purchased multiple sets of mobile column lifts, Y-MECH Lift with jacking beam, pit jacks and more from Totalkare, the recovery and heavy haulage firmhas now invested in a Light Commercial Four Post Lift to support frequent lifting of vans and other light vehicles for service and repair at its Wolvey depot near Hinckley in Leicestershire. With a lifting capacity of 4,000-8,000kg, the lift in question is ideal for operations requiring a fixed position lifting solution for vans and other light commercial vehicles. The lift was installed and surface-mounted by Totalkare engineers, however, it can also be recessed into the floor if required, with drive on/ drive through options also available. The lift can be used as a standalone application, but can also form part of a Class 7 MOT bay if required. Adam Crouch, Managing Director of Crouch Recovery, commented “The light commercial four post lift will assist in the effective repair and maintenance of our recovery van fleet following another impressive installation from the Totalkare team.” Adam Bowser, Sales Director for Totalkare added, “This latest investment in a light commercial four-post lift extends our existing positive relationship with Crouch Recovery, for whom it’s fair to say we are the workshop equipment supplier of choice. This is testament to the quality and reliability of all Totalkare’s products and the aftersales service we provide to our customers.” Arrow Self Drive has upgraded its workshop facilities after taking a selection of equipment from lifting and testing experts, Totalkare. In recent months the Huddersfield-based operator has purchased an in-ground load-simulating brake tester, headlamp tester and two post lift to service their fleet of over 2,000 commercial vehicles available for flexible business hire. All vehicles are maintained and repaired in-house by a team of engineers, underlining the need for efficient and reliable workshop equipment. Totalkare’s in-ground brake tester will provide easy-to-use diagnostic software resulting in advanced data collection, storage and improved presentation of results. The handheld tablet unit communicates wirelessly with the brake tester, offering an advantage over traditional fixed displays which can be easily obscured. The DVSA-approved brake tester, with angled cover plate design to minimise tyre damage, can be installed as a standalone application, across an existing pit or as part of an Authorised Testing Facility (ATF) lane. Arrow Self Drive opted for a model that features load-simulation, removing the need for manual loading which is often time-consuming and difficult work. The brake tester comes supplied with cabinet, computer, printer, monitor and handheld tablet which enables brake tests to be conducted with ease from within the cab of the vehicle in just a few minutes. The 2500 headlamp tester from Totalkare provides an intuitive LCD display, laser alignment and automatic adjustment, with a long battery life and quick recharge time to allow continuous operation in the busy workshop. Paired with the brake tester, Arrow Self Drive will be able to test in-house for the two most common reasons for annual test failure, ensuring continual compliance. Arrow Self Drive also invested in a two-post lift, which lifts vans from the chassis to provide access not only to the underside of the vehicle but also to the wheel arch area. Benefitting from lifting speeds of 30-60 seconds, the two post lift can help increase productivity in busy commercial garages. The equipment will be supported by a comprehensive service contract with Totalkare, meaning they will receive biannual visits from a Totalkare field service engineer to ensure all equipment is running at its best. “As part of our hiring guarantee we aim to manage every aspect of vehicle care including scheduled repairs, service checks, and maintenance swiftly,” said Chris Brian, Area Workshop Manager for Arrow Self Drive, “We anticipate that the new workshop equipment additions will allow us to be even quicker in our delivery and minimise vehicle downtime through the time saved by the wireless displays and load-simulation, which is substantial when managing a large fleet like ours.” Nigel Poynton, Area Sales Manager for Totalkare commented, “Arrow Self Drive has invested in a great combination of products which will aid in the overall efficiency of its workshop.” www.totalkare.co.uk Crouch Recovery takes four post lift from Totalkare Arrow Self Drive fits out workshop with Totalkare equipment
